FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

Minister Match Publishes Free Minister Hiring Process

Cookeville, Tennessee - April 1, 2015 – Minister Match is pleased to announce the release of a new resource for church Search Committees called the Minister Hiring ProcessTM. The Minister Hiring Process is a highly structured and proven search methodology that gives the churches of Christ a blueprint for finding and hiring their next minister.

In the past, Search Committees have been asked by their Elders to figure out the hiring process on their own. The result has often been a chaotic, poorly structured hiring experience that resulted in poor hiring decisions and short minister tenures. ”We based our process on the same proven process used by corporations and universities for more than 30 years," says Don Viar, founder of Minister Match. "We simply adapted it to fit the unique environment of hiring within the churches of Christ."

The Minister Hiring Process is composed of 5 phases designed to take the Committee through the search planning process, the development of a candidate pool and a structured selection process. Once the Committee has a single Nominee, the rest of the process teaches you how to introduce the candidate and congregation to each other and bring the new minister on board in a way that ensures their long term success.

The Minister Hiring Process is a free resource for anyone that might benefit from its use. You can download a free Overview of the process at www.MinisterMatch.com/minister-hiring-process. We also offer a range of free and paid training solutions to help congregations master the process which are available at www.MinisterMatch.com/training.

ABC Blocks

Your congregation has just hired a minister, and it seems like they are the perfect fit. Congratulations! There is one more step to the process, though, and it is just as important as the process of finding the right minister. You might have heard people refer to how the “first hundred days” of someone’s job usually sets the tone for their entire career with that organization. The same is true with ministers. Just as your congregation is going through a major transition, so is your new minister. The first few months of a job are a stressful time, and it is the job of the elders and search committee to help your new minister through their transition.

We refer to this as the “On-Boarding Stage.” Since the “first hundred days” is so important to the rest of a minister’s career with your congregation, we believe this stage is one of the keys to reducing minister turnover in the church. In this post, we want to talk about a few of the things that a new minister needs from their congregation during this transition period. We will refer to them as the ABC’s of the On-Boarding Phase.
